One of the highlights of Fourth Grade is their Mission Project.  Students give oral presentations in costume of their written reports and construct mission replicas.

Sacred Heart Parish School offers grade level curriculum that is in alignment with the California State Standards which have been adopted by the Sacramento Diocese.  In addition, we pride ourselves in offering a daily enriched curriculum which develops each child spiritually, socially, physically, emotionally and academically.

Regardless of the age of the student, we challenge ourselves to create life long learners.  Our Schoolwide Learning Expectations are clearly posted in each classroom and are sent home.  Each child can expect to be challenged in the core subjects of math, science, language arts, and social sciences with not only direct instruction but with hands on experience such as the Science Faire, the Tehama County Literary Festival, the Duck Stamp Art Contest and the CSU Chico math project.  Our religion program offers opportunities to provide service to local and global needs.  The children visit local Nursing Homes, actively contribute to the Christian Foundation for Children and Aging program by sponsoring a child who lives in the Philippines and the Heifer Project which provides animals and plants/tress for villages in third world countries.

In developing the whole child we feel it is important to teach and model respect for one another.  The Sacred Heart Acts of Courtesy detail appropriate ways to handle daily interpersonal situations that occur in the classroom, on the playground, and at home.  Our goal is to join hands with the parents in developing conscientious, Christian young people who have a zest for learning and a passion for serving.

The Second Graders prepared imaginative models to enhance their book reports as part of their Language Arts curriculum.

The Sixth Grade students constructed detailed models of Egyptian cities as part of their Social Studies/History studies.

All students receive computer instruction based on National Educational Technology Standards for Students and the Sacred Heart Parish School Technology Standards.
